Basic Barbering Course

 

The study for students enrolled in the basic barbers course consist of fifteen hundred clock hours, and includes a minimum of 120 hours of theory, or practical instructions. Thirteen hundred and eighty hours of hands-on practical operations will cover all practices constituting the barber vocation. This course prepares students for the State Licensing Examination. After completion of the exam the individual is now licensed for profitable employment as a barber, barber shop owner, or manager.

Admission Requirements
All applicants must have completed the 10th grade or its equivalent as required by the California State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. Applicants must provide certification of at least a tenth grade education and must be at least 17 years old. An admission tests will be given prior to enrollment and will evaluate the student’s aptitude.

School Hours of Operation
West Coast Barber College will open Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Lunch break is on a rotating schedule from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm for a period of 30 minutes. There are three 15 minute breaks, one before lunch and one two hours after lunch. 

Starting Dates
Open enrollment allows students to enroll anytime openings exist. Students are admitted on a rolling basis, therefore once a student graduates from the college another student will be enrolled.
